
Dr. McDonagh is currently Head of Faculty for Musicianship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) in Dublin, where she teaches courses in analysis, aural training and chamber music and supervises BA and MA thesis work. With 19 years university-level teaching experience, Dr. McDonagh has taught courses in piano, music theory and analysis (with a particular specialty in advanced chromatic and 20th century literature), music history and literature, aural training, and piano pedagogy. Her research interests include the development of the ear and injury prevention and recovery in pianists. Having spent the early years of her teaching career in the United States, she returned in 2010 to the RIAM in Dublin where, in addition to her teaching, she is Chair of the Doctoral Committee and a member of the Board of Studies.
